SME

SME stands for small and medium-sized enterprise. These companies are usually defined by their number of employees, their turnover and their balance sheet total. Typically, the following criteria are used:

• Small companies: fewer than 50 employees and an annual turnover or an annual balance sheet total of no more than 10 million euros.
• Medium-sized companies: fewer than 250 employees and an annual turnover not exceeding 50 million euros or an annual balance sheet total not exceeding 43 million euros.
