Robert Kubin will take over as Chairman of the Management Board of Erste Asset Management on 1 December 2026. He succeeds Heinz Bednar, who has led the company since 2006 and is stepping down as planned due to reaching retirement age. Robert Kubin’s appointment is subject to approval by the relevant supervisory authorities.
The General Assembly of Erste Asset Management has appointed Robert Kubin as Chairman of the Executive Board. He is moving from Amundi to Erste Asset Management, where he currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Head of Sales for Central Europe.
Robert Kubin is a seasoned international executive with more than 25 years of experience across asset management, insurance, and financial services. He joins from Amundi, where he serves as Vice Chairman of the Board and Head of Distribution for Central Europe. In this role, he oversees the company's sales activities across the region and, as Vice Chairman of the Board, contributes to the oversight of Product Management, Investments, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Compliance. He has held leadership roles including CEO PZU Asset Management in Warsaw and Chief Investment Officer Central Europe at MetLife. His international career has taken him across the United Kingdom, the United States, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and India.

Heinz Bednar has been at the helm of Erste Asset Management since 2006 and has played a key role in shaping the company’s development over the past two decades. Under his leadership, Erste Asset Management has grown to become one of the leading asset managers in Central and Eastern Europe. As at 30 June 2026, the company managed assets totalling 111.7 billion euros.
Today, Erste Asset Management is the market leader in Austria, Slovakia and Romania, and ranks among the largest providers in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Croatia. It also holds a strong position in the institutional business in Germany.
A transition phase will begin with the handover of the chairmanship of the Executive Board on 1 December 2026: Heinz Bednar will continue to support Erste Asset Management in an advisory capacity until the end of August 2027.
